storage idea

I think I may try and recreate this storage idea from designer christiane hoegner. I just love the colors and playfulness of it. I don't really know where to begin and it will probably be one of those projects I never finish but i'll keep you posted. "They are actually old plastic crates used in Europe to transport croissants and loaves of bread."

Greenport Harbor Brewing

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company opened a much needed second floor tasting room recently. From what I have seen so far the interior looks comfortable and nicely decorated with local artwork. It is such a quaint little spot they have there, near town but tucked away from all the shopaholics. The beer is really delicious and their growlers are great for cheap refills or adorable display....love the logo.  Read more about the expansion here.

birthdays, beaches, and bffs

Lea turned 3 today and it was such a beautiful day together. Spring was in the air and it felt awesome. Sometimes I don't know how we function living indoors all winter. We were like a bunch of hibernating bears coming out of our caves - monster bears as Lea would say. What a day for a birthday!

Here are a couple of shots of the new items in our playroom and the fun we had with our blow fish project. It made the afternoon fly and we all went to bed happily :)

new lonny!

A new lonny magazine just came out and it has some really beautiful decorating ideas. I'm especially loving all the lighting options.

love this lamp and pottery
lighting from circa. love love

project!!!!

I love this idea on madebyjoel today, and we are totally going to do it this afternoon. All we really need is a straw. I love projects that you dont have to go to the store for supplies. It's like finding something awesome and different to make for dinner and not having to go to the supermarket for an ingredient you will never use again, like cumin :)

This idea would be great in the kids room too. I can see a whole school of them in beautiful colors swimming over their beds.

Directions are as follows and you can find the template here...

"All you do is make the fish (using the template and the directions on the sketch below), thread the string through the straw that's inside the fish, then tape the string ends to your wall. Once it's on the string, you blow the fanned out tail and make the fish zoom down the line."

neon kitchens

The International Home and Housewares Show at the McCormick Place convention center this week boasted tons of incredible bright and beautiful home products. Cool accents to any kitchen and lots of fun coffee picks. I want to trade in my boring black nespresso maker for a lime one! I'm all about lime lately but the home and housewares people seem to think honeysuckle is the color of the year...who knew!

feeling beatles today..one of my favs

sushi on the NOFO!!!

I have wanted to post about Delatte in Greenport's new sushi bar for some time now. It serves coffee and delicious sandwiches by day and sushi by night. They have sushi thursday through sunday and its seriously awesome. I am a big sushi snob, so you can trust me when I say they know their fish eggs! The ambiance is adorable and super relaxed. The pictures do not do it justice.

ps -they also have takeout!
